Statistics about New Zealanders with disabilities are available from 1996, 2001, and 2006 surveys. These surveys collected information on the prevalence, nature, duration, and cause of disability, as well as on the barriers that people with disability encounter in everyday life.
Statistics are available for children (0–14 years) and adults living in households, and for adults living in residential facilities.
For specific data requests from any of these surveys please email info@stats.govt.nz.
