Key facts

In December 2011 compared with December 2010:

  • Visitor arrivals (364,200) were up 18,500. The biggest changes were in arrivals from:
    • Australia (up 10,200)
    • China (up 4,200)
    • Singapore (up 1,700)
    • Malaysia (up 1,200)
    • the United Kingdom (down 1,400).
  • Overseas trips by New Zealand residents (218,900) were up 12,900. The biggest changes were in departures to:
    • Australia (up 3,300)
    • the United States (up 1,500)
    • China (up 1,400)
    • the United Kingdom (up 1,300).

In December 2011:

  • Seasonally adjusted figures showed a net loss of 500 migrants.
